IMWA
condoles the death of Banatwala
Indian
Muslim Welfare Association (IMWA) condoles the death
of G. M. Banatwala, a member of Indian Parliament
who died on Wednesday, 25th June 2008 in Mumbai.
Ghulam Mehmood Banatwala, the national president of
a large political party Indian Union Muslim League (IUML)
was an intellectual of high reputation, an active
politician who was elected for Indian parliament
several times. Banatwala was known for his
firebrand speeches and was a great visionary leader
of the community.
Banatwala had been actively involved in value based
politics till he breathed his last in Mumbai at the
age of 74. He was very much concerned about the
minority issues especially of Muslims. In
parliament and outside, he was never hesitant to
raise minority issues and had always spoken his
heart. His loss is indeed irreparable!
IMWA offers deepest condolences to the bereaved
family, his close people, and to the community in
India and abroad. May Allah grant him a high station
in Paradise and elegant steadfastness to his people
on this great loss.
India's Islamic
scholars issue fatwa against terrorism
New Delhi: Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, one of the
leading Muslim organizations, along with several
other Muslim outfits issued a “fatwa” against
terrorism at the Anti-Terrorism Global Peace
Conference at Ramlila Grounds. The “fatwa,” sought
by Member of Parliament and Jamiat leader Mahmood
Asad Madani and issued on the letterhead of Darul
Uloom Deoband, one of the leading Islamic religious
institutions in the world, read: “Islam is a
religion of peace and security. In its eyes, on any
part over the surface of the earth spreading
mischief, rioting, breach of peace, bloodshed,
killing of innocent persons and plundering are the
most inhuman crimes.”
Social activist Swami Agnivesh said: “It is wrong to
attribute the wrongdoings of a few individuals to
the whole community. I would not mince words to say
that the United States is the terrorist number one.
To defame the Holy Koran and Islam is the worst form
of terrorism. Islam stands for peace and brotherhood
and there cannot be a bigger lie than saying that
Muslims are terrorists. Who assassinated Mahatma
Gandhi and former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and
Rajiv Gandhi? Were their assassins Muslims?” he
asked at the Conference.

My Mom
By Umaima, 4th Standard
(Indian English
Academy School, Salmiya, Kuwait)
You’re the one who touched my heart
Even when we were apart
You always fix my routine
You are a charming queen
Your heart is full of love
And you are a lovely dove
You always give me a hug or two
And tell me the good things to do
May it be rain or sunshine
Mom! You'll always be mine |
Prophet (pbuh) about Mother
Once a man came to Prophet Muhammad and asked,
"O Messenger of God, which person of all the
people is best entitled to kind treatment and
good companionship from me?" He answered, "Your
mother." The man asked, "And then?" He said,
"Your mother."
The man asked again, "And after her?" He said,
"Your mother." The man asked for a fourth time,
"And after her?" The Prophet said, "Your father"
(Al-Bukhari). |
